Taming the Beast...

The "Cinque" comes home!

What a cutie!!

The instrument cluster...

Toggles for the lights and windshield wipers, the ignition and the all important ash tray on the top.  Also, note the blue and white cord hanging under the steering wheel... that would be our anti-theft device!  It's another key that must be in for the car to start, not bad for a 1967!

The massive back seat.

What is it with men and cars...it's in the 40's and raining.  Does the car really need to be washed??

Pure power!
The maiden voyage...eeeek!

I wouldn't get too close!

Wheeeeeeee!

Look at her go!

I could only get up the nerve to drive a few laps around the house.

Not a great day to have the top down, but I couldn't resist!

One more lap ought to do it!

The "trunk" and the gas tank.  Not real sure what we can fit in here, but at least we have a back seat!

And protected by Padre Pio, one of Italy's favorite patron saints, and some say the patron saint of stress relief... perfect.

Festa della Donna (International Women's Day)

Today is International Women's Day!  The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. In some countries IWD has the equivalent status of Mother's Day where children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers.

Festa della Donna (International Women's Day) -- March 8: In Ancient Roman times, the year ended with February, and, in fact the Latin name of that month, Ferbruarius Mensis, meant something like "month of cleansing or finishing up" in preparation for the new year. February was followed by several intercalary days to get the calendar back on track, and then the new year began on March 1, which was also the first day of spring (primo vere).

Authorities don't agree how or why, but the custom started in Italy -- some sources say in Rome in 1946 -- of men giving their wives, mothers, daughters, and other women friends sprigs of bright yellow Mimosa flowers on March 8. Women have since also started to give Mimosa to each other, the flowers are intended as a sign of respect.

Newest Addition to the Fleet

We picked up our new car today!  It's a Fiat Cinquecento (500).

Look at her go!!

It's a 2 cylinder comic relief, capable of generating more power than an aquarium pump!

It makes Stu look like a giant!

With a gas tank equal in volume to that of a "Big Gulp" at 7-11!

We needed to get a few more things checked out on it and Luciano was kind enough to cram himself in and run it to the mechanic shop.

Poor guy, not sure how (or if...) he got out!!

Please note - the driver, Luciano, was not hurt when this picture was taken!

More pictues to follow when we finally get her home!
