Ahhh, Let There Be Progress!

Well, we sure did get off to a rough start this week, but I think we've found our groove...kind of.

The stone masons have finished, for the most part, the front of the house.

The roof has finally arrived!

And has started to go up...

More gravel was dropped in the courtyard in preparation for the cement slab.

The mud bees have been busy as well!  But the clock is ticking...and shortly they will be covered by insulation and sheet rock.  Hee hee!

The lighting for the kitchen is wired.

This is the kitchen/great room side of the house and it's almost done too.

This is the main entrance leading into the kitchen.  We just need the doors and windows...still.

This is a better shot to see the actually color of the roofing along the right edge.

This is as far as they got today, the material didn't arrive until two this afternoon and had to be offloaded from the truck flatbed.  In the end it was a good day and tomorrow will be better!

Tuesday's Events

Stu was the cameraman today, I was on the road...Home Depot, Lowes and I think everywhere in between!  It was a busy day for both of us.  More rain today, but at least it didn't start until about 3 this afternoon.

The East side of house is just about done with stone.

But everywhere else around the house is a disaster... I realize it's a building site, but wow, what a mess!

And still ditches everywhere...

This is the view from the guest bedroom.

And from the master bedroom...all we need now is windows.

We are expecting a really, really busy day tomorrow with a cast of thousands...  Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, roofers, masons, excavators, guys for the siding and soffits and the gas company again.  I'm going to have to get Stu a whistle to direct traffic!

Minor Setback...

Well, Mother Nature really got us good today...not to mention it's Monday!  The plumber and siders didn't show up and it rained...no, make that "the sky opened up"...

It absolutely poured for hours.

This was taken early in the storm, it was still a "gentle" rain then, but you can still see the puddles starting on the driveway.

Stu and I left around noon, and apparently the stone masons left right behind us it was raining so hard!  But as true to form, a couple hours later...the sun was shining bright and not a cloud in the sky.  This is the aftermath...

The electrical masthead fell into the ditch.

The ditch we dug to take on the over flow from our neighbors driveway is almost full, again.

The ditch that was dug for the electrical going to the house  partially collapsed and eroded.

One of our electricians actually fell in...

This was as far as the masons were able to get.

And worst of all, we have several swimming pools throughout the house, which means our crawlspace is wet, again...

This is Sweetie, she belongs to our neighbors and came to visit us Saturday night.  What a cutie!

We'll see what tomorrow holds for us...

What A Crazy Day!

Crazy indeed!  We had 18 people divided between 5 sub-contractors working today.  Surprisingly enough, it went very well, we got a lot done and we even got some much needed rain in the evening and last night.

The felt and wire mesh is up all around the house, that's what the stone will adhere to.

Almost all of the soffits are done.

The stone masons have started applying the stone to the house!

Tim put some of our really nice big rocks around the septic tanks.  Since they are right next to the driveway, we don't want anyone driving over them.

Interior shots are getting hard to take, hard to see the changes, all electrical and plumbing...  But our power box is in now, so we have power to the house!

Septic And Soffits...

What a busy week!  Lots of action...  The septic is in and should be covered today, the electrician should be done next week, the siding is going up...
This is one of three "lines" of the septic field done and ready to be covered.

The septic pipe going from the house to the field.

One connecting to the other.

The grass we planted a little less than two weeks ago is doing really well...But, of course the electrician had to dig most of it back up yesterday.

The electrician started on Wednesday and is making great progress!

The soffits on the front porch look great!  In the picture it looks like a tan or brown color, it is really more of a grayish green tone.

The roofing material is being delivered this morning, the stone masons starting and still no plumber...the fun continues!

Day Off????

We hope everyone had a great holiday!  Stu and I have been busy trying to finalize the materials for the house and ordering our interior doors.  Today we spent most of the day down in the crawlspace putting up the insulation.  Wow...and I thought my knees hurt before...ouch!!

Ta Da!  Well not quite done, we still have to finish under the kitchen and great room and then go back and glue it into place.

Another busy week ahead...plumber, electrician, roofers, etc...

Slowly, Slowly...

Septic tank # 2 was installed yesterday.

The pipes were run and buried.

Some form of bee or wasp has taken up residence in Stu's new garage!

Tim burying the septic line.

This is the latest ginormous rock that has been pulled up. Stu was trying to do a size comparison with the bottle...

This morning we went to pick up my new oven...it took quite a bit of man handling, but they finally got all 650 pounds of it into the pickup!  Now we just need to get it out!
