Yahooooo!

Yahooo indeed!  The kitchen is almost done and should be done by the end of the day today!!

The mosaic centered on the front door looks great, everything just needs to be grouted and cleaned.

The beams in the great room are done.

The trim around both sliding glass doors are done.

They need a good cleaning as well!

The posts for the porches are stained and look great!

These two will be in the office/hallway.

And even more trim ready to go!

Looks like it might be a slow weekend for us (yahoooo again!), mostly cleaning tomorrow.  It rained all morning so I'm sure we'll have mud everywhere...

Moving Right Along!

Lots of activity at the house this week... The electricians have been going at it all week.  Our tile guys Mike and Travis have all the backer board down in the guest bathroom and the kitchen/hall and office.  The stone masons finished up and we just have the guest bedroom left to be painted.

The fireplace wall is grouted and done.

All the ceiling fans, except the great room, are installed and running...Ahhhhhh, nice!

With any luck they will start to lay the tile in the kitchen tomorrow!  Can't wait!

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day is right!  More painting...  But we were able to get the fridge and freezer into the pantry.  Yahooo, no more buying bags of ice for the cooler!   

Mike and Travis started on the guest bathroom.

The first coat of paint is up in the master bath...pewter.  Can't wait to see the tile in!

Our electrician comes tomorrow to light us up!  More painting and tiling...

Working Through The Weekend...Again

We have the electrician coming back tomorrow to get us started with lights, outlets, etc...  So before that happens we are trying to get as much of the painting as we can done.  Stu painted all day yesterday and I ran errands, getting more paint and to pick up the first of our Italian tiles going in tomorrow!

And these are all the tiles for the guest bathroom, the truck was riding low!

Ta da!  Our fireplace wall is done, just needs some finishing touches later.  They did a really nice job, very creative!

All the ceilings, except the two bedrooms are done.

And just some finishing touches, like the trim around the window and base boards in the pantry and it's done too.

More painting today and our tile guys, Mike and his son Travis, start on the guest bathroom today!  At least we have great weather, right now it's 7:30 and 52 degrees out with a high of 82 expected today, beautiful!

Stone And Tile

The stone masons, the tile guys and Rodney our stainer turned painter were all hard at it yesterday...

The tile in the laundry room and pantry just need grout, which should be done by now.  We bought these tiles here, nothing fancy for these two rooms...Monday they start on the tile we brought back with us from Italy!

One more coat of paint in the pantry and it's just about done.

They will start the tile in the guest bath next, so that is one of our many projects tomorrow, to throw up another coat of paint before Monday. 

The pillar for the guest porch is done, just waiting for the post to be stained. 

Tomorrow we paint...and probably for the rest of the week.  But at least we are making forward progress!  Tuesday I will call about our shipment in storage and schedule it to be delivered on the 1st of October, so ready or not...

Bringing The Outdoors In...

We had a visitor today... actually every subcontractor and their brother showed up today, but we did have a little hummingbird fly into the great room.

He/she was watching Stu and Mike work on the fireplace mantle.  He was still stuck in the house when Stu left, but he left all the windows and doors open, hopefully he found his way out.

Looks great!  The mantle is attached and the mud is up on the entire wall ready for the stone.

We should seee some big changes by the end of the day and through the weekend.  The last big jobs are to install the tile and cabinets, the tile starts today and the cabinets can't go in until that is done...

Busy Week!

Wow, we have been so busy!  We started painting on Tuesday and with any luck we'll be done by this weekend (fingers crossed).  The new stone masons came and finished off the pillars for the apartment. 

And formed up the pillar for the guest porch, they should be finishing that today.

Finally!  We have stairs up to the apartment!  The railings and bottom steps still need to be installed, but it's a start!
