Warmer Weather...Yahoooo!

The weather has finally started to get warm enough to get outside and check a few of our MANY projects off our list.

Stu has been working so hard on the garage and it looks great!  We now have lots of storage!

We just need to get organized and Stu is going to finish up the ceiling.

We got both of our Aristocrat Pear trees in the ground.

And they both have flowers getting ready to bloom already!

Stu's pride and joy...  The lawn looks great!  We are the envy of the neighborhood!

The rest of our "garden" is doing great too, just waiting to be re-potted.

And yet another untouched bird feeder...

We finally started to burn the huge pile of wood left overs from the build, it's going to take a while, but we'll be here for a while....

Another project:  To hang the porch swing...Done!

Our rhubarb is coming up too!

And The Work Continues....

Stu is hard at it again...  To the garage!

He's putting boards up on the walls so we can put some shelves up.

It's a mess right now, but he's doing a great job and this will be cleaned up and organized in no time!

The kitchen is finally done!  We had the last of the tiles installed and everything looks great!

In a effort to attract some wildlife, we put up a bird feeder... that was almost 2 weeks ago, and still NO BIRDS (or anything else for that matter)!

Desperate times, desperate measures...  Yes, that's peanut butter smeared on the tree...  That was 2 days ago, and we can't even get the squirrels to come!  What the heck is going on??!!  If anyone has any suggestions, bring them on!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Yahooooo, Spring is near! (Let's hope!)
For those interested here is the rundown on Groundhog Day...

On February 2nd, Phil comes out of his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob, in front of thousands of faithful followers from all over the world, to predict the weather for the rest of the winter.

According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.

After Phil emerges from his burrow on February 2nd, he speaks to the Groundhog Club President in Groundhogese. His proclamation is then translated for the world.

The celebration of Groundhog Day began with the Germans, Pennsylvania’s earliest settlers. They brought with them the legend of Candlemas Day, which states “For as the sun shines on Candlemas day, so far will the snow swirl in May…”. The settlers found that groundhogs were plentiful and were the most intelligent and sensible animal to carry on the legend of Candlemas Day. (Those silly Germans)

Punxsutawney held its first Groundhog Day in the 1800’s. The first official trek to Gobbler’s Knob made on February 2nd, 1887.  2011  will be the 125nd prediction.

So the story goes, Punxsutawney Phil was named after King Phillip.

And now you know....
