Happy Veteran's Day!

To celebrate Veteran's Day, as we have the past two years, we were lucky enough to get a room, free of charge at a Bed & Breakfast.  For the second year in a row, we went to the Carolina Bed & Breakfast in Asheville, North Carolina.

It's a beautiful B & B and the owners are great!  They offer up all their rooms to Vets every year.

Drinks and appetizers by the fire before heading out to dinner.  We went to a fantastic restaurant for dinner, Limones, it's billed as having "Mexican/Californian food".  It was out of this world good and also free!  Definitely enjoying the military more now that I'm retired!

As luck would have it our good friends Jerry and Sylvia were able to join us.  Jerry was in the Army, well, we I guess we can't all be Navy!

If we didn't get enough to eat last night, we had a huge breakfast this morning, I'd like to say I'm not got to eat for a week, but we all know that's not true!

Asheville is only about an hour away, but we have to drive through a mountain pass to get there, on the way home we hit a snow storm...  No snow at home but it is 32 degrees (.2 C) and dropping...  Eeeeek, I wasn't done with Fall yet!

Leaf Peeping

Our friends Jan and Jerry picked us up this morning and took us leaf peeping.  What a day, the weather was perfect and the views were even better!  Our first stop was Hall Top lookout tower on Stone Mountain.

We are standing at the base of this...   the old lookout tower.

This is the date in the cement base, 6/20/34... Did I mention old... Eeeeek!

So off we went to the top, yes, we climbed to the top...

Have I mention that I'm afraid of heights?

I mean shaking, death grip, breathing funny, afraid of heights...

But I'm so glad I did!

The views were amazing!

Ok, on to the next stop...  The roads up to these two spots were so washed out they were almost impassable.

This is Rocky Top, not the famous Rocky Top, Tennessee, but our very own right here in our own backyard.

Amazing!

Have I mentioned this is my favorite time of year???  Look at that color!

Stu's Big Adventure And My Leaf Peeping...

A couple of days ago, our friend Jerry took Stu out for a horseback ride.  I skipped out on this adventure, not being a horse person...

I wish I could tell you where they went, but neither one of us remember...

Jerry with his horse Thunder.

I love this picture, someone obviously spent some time here to gather and stack those rocks.

Stu sure did a great job with the pictures!

This is Stu's horse Jay.

It was such a beautiful sunny day, I took a drive on the Foothills Parkway, which is literally just down the road from us, as a matter of fact you can see our neighbors house from it.

Sometimes I forget that there are lots of people that save for a long time to vacation here for a week or just a few days... and this is my backyard.
