Devil's Fork State Park

After we left Montgomery, AL we spent one night just north of Atlanta, we won't be doing that again!!  The traffic around Atlanta is a nightmare, especially in the bus!  So, moving on, our last stop was Devil's Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee, South Carolina.  We met our friends Jan and Jerry there for a couple days of hiking, waterfalling and wild flowering.  We had beautiful weather!

We saw this little guy every morning when we took our trash out.  Ummmm napkin....

This place would be beautiful in the fall...hmmmm, we may have to come back!

The Oconee Bell flower only grows here, it's a little cutie!

This is the registration office/store, nicely done.

I love this!

Caesar's Head State Park at 3,208 ft elevation.

And there it is!  It's said to be named after an early mountaineers dog...that dog either had a big nose or big lips, not sure...

A skinny passage between the rocks.

And there is Stu, Jerry and Jan shimmying through.

I think that is Table Rock across the way.

There we are about to get blown away!

Jan and Jerry

We found this on a hike in the woods searching for the elusive pitcher plants.

Slickum Falls (slickum indeed!)... just amazing!

One of the Visitor's Center.

We went through the Table Rock State Park campground, we didn't really see anything suitable for us, but I think this camper spends WAY too much time on Pinterest!

Wow, can you imagine how long it takes to set up and break down???? And I have a hard time getting Stu to put our rug and chairs out!

Eeeeek!  Right along the trail!

We got a tip that there are pitcher plants along this trail.

An official Bat House.

And boy were there pitcher plants!!  Yay!

Not in bloom yet, but we'll be back!

This is where we found them, directly across from the lake, on the shore line.

A waterfall along the side of the road.

On the trail to Twin Falls. This tree is pretty amazing...

Only the strong survive!

The left and larger of the falls pitches from a height of 75 feet over a massive slab of granite, while the right side manages a short drop onto another chunk of stone and then slides down a 45 degree slope before rejoining its brother.

Perfect ending to a great trip!
