Whatever you call it, it's the day before Ash Wednesday and is traditionally celebrated 40 days before Easter, a final party/pig out before the restrictions of Lent.
In the Southern part of Italy, particularly Naples, the tradition is to have lasagna (among other things), so that's what we did... We were invited to have dinner with Santo and his family.
