Siding And Insulation...

Another cast of thousands today...the roofers, siders, stone masons, insulation and the fireplace installers were all here slaving away.  We didn't get the porches and courtyard pressure washed yet, but I don't think we would have had any room for them to move around anyway!

The the kitchen window is in and the siding is started on the front.

The stone masons finished the garage, and our small door on the right went in.

The siding, stone and windows look great together!!

The trim moulding that Stu and I painted the other day is up and looks great, filthy from the mud, but great!

The kitchen window from the inside.  Stu and I will be staining all of the windows, doors and trim ourselves... Maybe we really won't be in until November!

The insulation is going up really fast!

Just a little bit more to do and the fireplace will be ready for framing.

Moving Right Along!

This is one of two concrete trucks that arrived bright and early to pour the porches and courtyard!  It's difficult to determine if this was truck number one or two--the drivers were identical twins!

Mike giving the guys a hand putting the hall window in just prior to pouring the courtyard concrete.

Pouring the concrete on the front porch.

Smoothing it out...

Beautiful! Almost ready for friends and a glass of wine or two.

They have added color to the center of the porch and will do the texture next.

And the guest porch.

This is one of our major sub-contractors Jorge (the Capo di Capo) working on the pad where the heat pump will sit.

The courtyard being smoothed, ready for color and texture.

Working the color into the front porch.  As you can see by our workers that our buongiorno is quickly turning to buenas dia...

Here comes the texture...

These are big textured latex rounds that are pounded into the fresh concrete just after applying the "release agent", which is a gray colored powder (that's now everywhere!) that will blend with the color applied beneath and add a shadow effect--give up? You'll have to see the pics tomorrow and then we'll all understand better.

And our Bravo! is turing to Ole!

They will pressure wash tomorrow and we'll see what color we come up with.  Of course with the rain storm that just raced through here, they may not need to!

Windows in the guest bath and bedroom are in.

The heat pump will have a fancy place to sit!

I saw a tip on the all knowing internet the other day...  After using/cutting green onions, put the cut end with the roots back in soil and they will grow again.  Not only do they grow back, but FAST!!  ( The big plants are my peppers)

I just planted these last week!

Windows And Doors...Finally!

Yahoooooo!  We finally got all of our windows and doors delivered this morning and they are beautiful!

This one is going in the hallway across from the office.

This is our front/kitchen door, we still need to stain the wood on the inside part on them all.

The two sliders for the master bedroom and great room going to the courtyard.  And the little one in front is for the back wall of the master.

The roofers are almost finished with the garage, just a few trim pieces left now.

EEEEEEEKKK!  I hate bugs, spiders being at the top of my list...and this guy is HUGE!

They finished up with the "eyebrows" (that being the part above the front porch) today.  The roofing material is still filthy from the rain and mud, but at least it isn't scratched.  Once this crew has completely covered the whole roof, they will wash it and replace anything done by the other crew that is scratched, dented or cut wrong...

A final shot of the garage into the sun...

Tomorrow the windows go in, the concrete for the porches and courtyard gets poured and the roofing saga continues.  Or so we are told...

Finally!

We finally have the second team of roofers working, they started on Saturday and seem to be doing a much better job...of course, that wouldn't be too hard to do.  No pictures of the roof yet, they are working on the back side of the garage and dormers, so I couldn't get a good angle...

Friday the front porch and the guest porch were framed up ready for concrete and today the courtyard was done, and with any luck, the concrete will be poured tomorrow.

Our project for today was to paint the trim for the windows and doors (which, we have been told, will be in tomorrow morning).

We had some paint left over so we painted our picnic table.  I know it looks a little on the purple side, but it's really not!!

Siding!

Although we still don't have all of our windows and doors (I'm not even going to guess as to when we'll see the rest of them...), the siding is going up where it can.  It looks great!

Over the front porch.

The garage.

We left the house around 6:30 this evening and the guys were still there working on the backside of the house.  Can't wait to see it tomorrow!

Forward Progress!

Lots of progress today...all on the garage, but at least it's progress!

The stone masons got right to work on the front and side of the garage, and the windows were installed.

Both the dormers are finished, just waiting for the roof...

The sliding glass door and the deck for the apartment are done, no stairs for me to get up there yet.

The siding material on the dormer looks great!

The garage from the top of the driveway.  If we would have know the garage would have been this pretty, we might have just decided to live here...

Logan Update!

Logan is now 8 and a half month old and doing great!

Father and son.

I get that look from Stu all the time...

Mom and Logan on his first trip away from home.

Wheeeeee!

Ahhh, the good old days...I used to be able to reach my toes too!
